Uncover the best boutique hotels in Todos Santos with our expert guide to where to stay.
Perched on the Pacific coast of Baja California Sur, Todos Santos is an officially designated Pueblo Mágico, a magic town steeped in history, culture, and an undeniable sense of magic. Once a sleepy artists’ retreat, this coastal gem has transformed into one of the chicest destinations in Baja, drawing in design-focused travelers looking for a more refined, slow-paced alternative to Cabo’s high-energy resorts. And the best part? It’s an easy, scenic drive from Cabo San Lucas, La Paz and San Jose del Cabo, making it the perfect escape for a few days—or longer.
Much of Todos Santos’ newfound allure comes down to its burgeoning food and hospitality scene. Over the past few years, a wave of stylish boutique hotels and destination-worthy restaurants have popped up, blending barefoot luxury with Baja’s rugged natural beauty.
From design-forward hideaways in the desert to a breezy beachside retreat, or even a historic casona-turned-hotel in the heart of town, Todos Santos offers a hotel experience that feels effortlessly cool, deeply rooted in place, and completely unique.
I’ve been coming to Baja since childhood, driving down from California. Over the years, I’ve watched Todos Santos evolve from a quiet surf town into a destination that balances authenticity with modern luxury, where boutique hotels don’t just offer a great place to sleep but a full immersion into Baja’s soul. Here’s my guide to the best hotels in Todos Santos, essentially where to stay in the marvelous little desert town.

Where to Stay in Todos Santos, Mexico
Todos Santos is the kind of place where choosing where to stay is just as important as picking the hotel itself. The town is spread out, with boutique hotels tucked into different pockets of the area, each offering its own experience.
You can stay in downtown Todos Santos, where a short walk will land you on the cobblestone streets lead to art galleries, farm-to-table restaurants, and lively cantinas, or opt for a more secluded escape in the desert, where boutique hotels blend into the cacti-studded landscape.
The coastline offers yet another experience—stay by the beach, where luxury hideaways provide panoramic Pacific views and private access to the waves. A little further afield, the neighboring enclave of El Pescadero is home to some more fantastic boutique hotels, while nearby El Cerritos Beach is the go-to spot for surfers, with its laid-back stays and easygoing beach vibes.
Given how spread out Todos Santos and its surrounding areas are, having a car is essential. Taxis and rideshares are nearly nonexistent, and while some hotels offer bikes or shuttles, you’ll want the freedom to explore the beaches, visit local farms, and venture into town at your own pace. Having a rental car is by far the easiest way to navigate the region—book one in advance through Discover Cars to ensure you have the best selection.
10 Best Luxury Boutique Hotels in Todos Santos
1. Paradero

If there’s one hotel that defines the new wave of luxury hotels in Todos Santos, it’s Paradero. Easily the most talked-about stay in town—and for good reason—this brutalist architectural masterpiece sits in the middle of a vast desert landscape, surrounded by cacti, farmland, and distant ocean views.
Unlike traditional hotels, Paradero is designed to immerse guests fully in nature, with open-air spaces, earthy textures, and a seamless blend of modern design and Baja’s rugged beauty.
Everything at Paradero Todos Santos feels intentional. The rooms, minimalist yet impossibly chic, feature oversized hammocks perfect for stargazing. The striking infinity-edge pool is carved into the landscape, mirroring the surrounding desert dunes, while the spa—housed in a circular adobe structure—offers healing rituals inspired by the region. Even the hotel’s experiences, from sunset hikes to sound baths in the sand dunes, are designed to connect guests with the elements.
Then there’s Tenoch, easily one of the best dining experiences I had on my last trip to Todos Santos. The menu, centered around open-fire cooking, highlights the bounty of Baja with dishes that are as beautiful as they are delicious—freshly caught seafood, locally grown produce, and smoky flavors that linger.
Like the rest of the hotel, dining at this fine dining restaurant feels like an experience rather than just a meal, making Paradero an essential stay for those looking to embrace the essence of Todos Santos in the most stylish way possible.
The hotel also offers multiple excursions and tours in the local area including horseback riding in the Sierra de la Laguna mountains, whale watching in season, and more.

Guests can start their day with a leisurely breakfast on the terrace before wandering out to explore Todos Santos, knowing they have a stylish sanctuary to return to.

The rooms are simple and unadorned, with polished concrete floors, crisp white linens, and industrial-chic touches. While the rooms felt a little light-less and sparsely furnished, I think the design is intentional—keeping things cool and calming against the Baja heat. The small but stylish courtyard pool is a welcome retreat after a day of exploring, and the rooftop terrace is perfect for a sundowner with sweeping town views.
The on-site La Santeña restaurant, a local favorite, serves fresh, unfussy Mexican fare and cocktails that seemed to draw in both guests and expat residents.
With its heritage charm, modern aesthetic, and excellent value, Hotel Casa Tota is a smart pick for travelers looking for a boutique experience without the high-end price tag. It’s the perfect place that feels effortlessly cool, offering just enough style and comfort to make it a solid home base in Todos Santos.
7. Kimpton Mas Olas

Opened in early 2024, Kimpton Mas Olas is one of the first major international brand hotels to land in the Todos Santos area, offering a polished, full-service stay just down the road in El Pescadero. This makes it an ideal choice for travelers who want the best of both worlds—the charm of Todos Santos just a short drive away, combined with the laid-back beachy vibes of El Pescadero’s surf scene. Plus, for those loyal to IHG, it’s a rare chance to cash in those hard-earned points while still experiencing Baja in style.
Despite being a big-name brand, Mas Olas feels perfectly in sync with its surroundings. The design is effortlessly chic, blending Kimpton’s signature modern aesthetic with earthy tones, natural materials, and subtle nods to the region’s bohemian-meets-surf culture.
Rooms are spacious and airy, featuring private terraces, plush furnishings, and a seamless indoor-outdoor flow. The pool area—expansive and framed by palm trees and desert greenery—is the heart of the hotel, while the full-service spa offers treatments inspired by Baja’s natural elements.
The on-site restaurant leans into fresh, locally sourced ingredients, serving elevated Mexican coastal cuisine in a breezy, stylish setting. And while Mas Olas sits a little outside Todos Santos, its location in El Pescadero makes it a great base for exploring the area’s quieter beaches, surf breaks, and local farm-to-table dining spots.
8. Casa Blanco Madera

For travelers seeking a quiet, design-forward retreat, Casa Blanco Madera is a hidden gem. Located just outside Todos Santos, this boutique stay is all about understated luxury, with a minimalist aesthetic that lets the surrounding desert landscape take center stage. Crisp white walls, natural wood accents, and sleek, modern furnishings create a calming, tranquil atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring Baja.
With just a handful of suites and a private villa, Casa Blanco Madera feels intimate and exclusive. The outdoor pool, set against a backdrop of cacti and mountains, is a highlight, while the open-air communal spaces encourage guests to slow down and soak in the Baja sun.

9. The Hotelito

For a boutique stay that’s vibrant, eclectic, and full of personality, The Hotelito is a standout choice. Located just outside of Todos Santos, this playful yet stylish retreat feels like a cross between a design hotel and an artist’s hideaway. Each of the brightly colored casitas is individually designed, blending bold hues with modern furnishings and breezy, open-air spaces that make the most of the Baja climate.
Despite its intimate size, The Hotelito offers plenty of space to unwind. The lush gardens, shaded terraces, and sparkling pool create a peaceful oasis, while the laid-back atmosphere makes it easy to settle in and stay awhile.
With its unique design, welcoming vibe, and a location just a short drive from town and the beach, The Hotelito is a perfect pick for travelers who appreciate boutique luxury with a creative, unconventional twist.
10. Hotel San Cristobal

There’s no denying that Hotel San Cristóbal is one of the most visually stunning boutique hotels in the Todos Santos area. Set right at the end of a dirt road, on the beach at Punta Lobos, this striking property—created by the team behind Austin’s famed Bunkhouse Group—blends mid-century design with Baja’s rugged beauty, offering a dreamy escape where the desert meets the sea.
With just 32 rooms arranged around a tranquil courtyard and pool, the hotel feels intimate yet effortlessly cool, with a design-forward aesthetic that has made it one of the most sought-after stays in the region.
The setting is breathtaking, the rooms are beautifully appointed, and the on-site restaurant serves up fresh, coastal-inspired dishes with a view of the waves. But despite its undeniable charm, Hotel San Cristóbal wasn’t quite the flawless experience I had hoped for. While the hotel exudes a laid-back, exclusive atmosphere, the service didn’t always match the setting—staff interactions felt inconsistent and at times, even unfriendly.
That being said, Hotel San Cristóbal remains a great option, particularly for those who prioritize design and location over a more personal touch. The beachfront setting is truly special, and for guests who prefer a quiet, self-contained retreat, it delivers. But for travelers who value warmth and hospitality as much as aesthetics, there are other boutique hotels in Todos Santos that offer a more welcoming and seamless experience.
